Hi, I’m Meg

I’m the voice, heart, and occasionally, chaotic mind behind Midlife Adventures with Meg.

After years of pouring myself into being a mom, partner, and all-around responsible human, I woke up one day (okay… my therapist essentially bitch-slapped me into the realization) and thought, Wait — where did I go? So here I am, in this marvelous and sometimes messy season of midlife, strengthening my voice and building a life that’s entirely my own. And yes, I’m absolutely manifesting the part where I get paid to do it (Sponsors holler at your girl!)

Speaking of therapy, one of the most valuable things mine ever asked me during a session was: Who are you if you’re not a Good/Bad Mom? (We were debating/languishing over the good/bad part)
Well… here I am: a lifelong learner, an athlete, a good friend, a writer, an educator, a creator, a wanderer who as a child was accused of having her head in the clouds — and honestly never stopped dreaming…As a child I identified as one of the lost “Wild Things” from the Maurice Sendak book. Slightly feral, incredibly loved, and yes, very checked out. I love meeting new people, diving into new experiences, and working hard while doing it. Outside of a small coven of very close friends, I’m generally not the “sip tea with the ladies and shoot the shit” type; if tea is the topic, I want to visit China, sit in tea houses, and smell it at the source. I’m scrabbling over mountains and swimming oceans to experience it, if I have to.

This space is where I plan to share my adventures, misadventures, and everything in between — a midlife (mostly) travel journal with a dash of luxury, a sprinkle of “this didn’t go as planned,” and a whole lot of unforgettable moments. Because, despite what society loves to dictate about midlife, this mama is just getting started. In sharing, I’m seeking a community of women rewriting what midlife looks like — whether you’re hopping on a plane or finding adventure in your own backyard. (For the record, I live on a farm with three goats and a small army of chickens. Balance, folks.)

Yes, I love the finer things in life. But I also know that a meaningful life is carved out with one’s own heart and hands. You don’t need a passport full of stamps or a bottomless budget to be here. You just need a big heart and big dreams. Buckle up Buttercups it’s going to be a wild ride!

Welcome — and congratulations. We’ve made it to some of the best years of our lives!

*I want to include the stages of life and how as a kid our most exotic trips included o9ur annual summer trek in the dodge caravan packed like sardines next to a cooler full of ham and cheeses to my grandparents home in Bainbridge Island and one trip just south of the boarder where we stayed in a hotel with fleas.
